Urgent Make the Switch to BCNSW eCert for Gas Compliance by 1 March 2026

The Building Commission NSW is updating its regulatory approach for the building and construction sector, with significant changes coming for gasfitters. From the 1st of March 2026, it will be a strict requirement to submit all gas Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) and Certificates of Inspection (CoIs) via the newly launched BCNSW eCert portal. Make sure you act fast as the MyInspections, will cease to accept gas CoCs and CoIs after this date.

For all gasfitting activities, it is important that you create a new account on the BCNSW eCert portal asap, as MyInspections accounts will not be automatically. Legally, these certificates are required to be submitted following the completion of gasfitting work, and the Building Commission will begin monitoring the new portal from March 1st. It is important to understand that this transition is limited to gasfitting work; all plumbing and drainage operations will continue to be managed through MyInspections until they are transitioned at a future date.

What You Need to Do Right Now:

  • Create Your New Account: Do not wait until your next job. Register now at BCNSW eCert to set up your profile.
  • Learn the New System: Step-by-step guides have been created to help you navigate the new portal. Access the eCert user guide for gasfitters here.
  • Attend the Info Session: Building Commission NSW is hosting a helpful webinar on Thursday, 26 February from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm to demonstrate how to register and use the portal. We highly recommend attending.
  • Understand Data Migration: Your existing gas CoCs and CoIs will eventually be migrated from MyInspections to BCNSW eCert, but only if they can be linked to your individual licensee profile.

With less than a week to go until the deadline, MPA NSW strongly urges all members performing gasfitting work to register for BCNSW eCert today. Thank you for continuing to keep gasfitting work in NSW safe, compliant, and trusted.
