It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the recent passing of our former colleague and friend, Rod Jackson, who served as a dedicated Field Officer with Master Plumbers Apprentices Limited (MPAL) and a current Board Member.
Rod was a valued member of our community – highly respected not only for his professionalism and deep technical knowledge but also for his unwavering commitment to supporting the next generation of tradespeople. His career in plumbing and vocational education with TAFE NSW was marked by excellence, innovation, and a genuine passion for empowering others.
Over the years, Rod made significant contributions across our industry. From overseeing major projects, such as the metal roofing installation at Hornsby College’s eco-centre, to developing RPL packages that brought former students back into training, Rod’s work left a lasting legacy. He was instrumental in advancing training quality, serving as a technical editor and course material developer, and playing a key role in the modernisation of teaching tools and techniques.
Rod’s influence extended far beyond his job title – he was a mentor, a leader, and a trusted colleague to many. His warmth, knowledge, and humility will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of working with him.
Following Rod’s wishes, his family will be holding a small and private funeral service. We respect their desire for privacy during this time of grief.
If you would like to send your condolences to Rod’s family, we invite you to direct your messages to the Master Plumbers Association of NSW. We will ensure all messages of sympathy and support are passed along to his loved ones. The family has requested that instead of sending condolence flowers, please donate to the Heart Foundation
Rod’s memory will remain a guiding light within our Association and among all those whose lives he touched.
Rest in peace, Rod. You will be greatly missed.
