The Master Plumbers Association (MPA) of NSW extends heartfelt congratulations to Wingecarribee Shire Council (WSC) for being crowned with the 2024 Best-Tasting Tap Water title for New South Wales and the ACT.
This prestigious recognition was announced at the WIOA 2024 NSW Water Industry Operations Conference and Exhibition on 6 November 2024.
MPA NSW CEO Nathaniel Smith (also a Highlands local and ratepayer) applauded Wingecarribee Shire Council for their remarkable achievement, saying, “Delivering high-quality, safe drinking water to our communities is an essential service, and being recognised as the best-tasting tap water is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of everyone involved. Congratulations to Wingecarribee Shire Council for this incredible accomplishment.”
The annual IXOM Best Tasting Tap Water competition brings together water suppliers from across NSW and the ACT, providing a fun and engaging way to highlight the high standards and dedication within Australia’s water industry. Water samples undergo a blind taste test, assessed on attributes like colour, clarity, odour, and taste.
“This accolade not only showcases the quality of our local drinking water but also shines a spotlight on the essential work of water service professionals who ensure our communities receive clean and safe water daily,” Smith added.
Wingecarribee Shire Council will compete for the national title in Tasmania later this month, facing off against the best from other states. The winner will be honoured to represent Australia at the prestigious Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition in West Virginia, USA.
Nathaniel Smith concluded, “We wish Wingecarribee Shire Council all the best for the national competition and commend the ongoing efforts of all water service providers who keep our water clean, safe, and great-tasting.”
