System Failure Putting Lives At Risk

Today, the Daily Telegraph published a follow-up to yesterday’s front-page story, revealing that dodgy heat pump installations could have gone unnoticed for more than two years due to a major regulatory loophole.

Between 2022 and late 2024, around 100,000 discounted systems were installed across NSW before the government introduced mandatory licensing checks. Compliance rates from recent inspections are as low as 9 per cent.

A small group of Master Plumbers Association of NSW members inspected 135 systems and found 43 cases of significant non-compliance. One of those, Bill Armstrong, described some installations as horrendous, dangerous, and totally illegal.

This is not just poor workmanship. It is a systemic failure that has put people at risk. Always use a licensed and qualified professional.
